ASTM E152 Time- temperature curve
When testing the fire resistance of constructions different time-temperature curves can be used.
The time-temperature curve corresponds to different types of fire scenarios where the standard time-temperature curve in accordance with ASTM E 152 represents a normal room fire. In certain cases for example tunnel constructions other fire scenarios can be chosen for example the RWS-curve which contains a rapid heat phase to high temperatures.
The function of the standard time-temperature curve is:
The temperature is the average furnace temperature, in degree Celsius in minutes. The function for the HC-curve is:
The temperature is the average furnace temperature, in degree Celsius in minutes.
The RWS-curve is based on tabulated values as follows:
Time (minutes) Temperature (°C)
0 20
3 890
5 1140
10 1200
30 1300
60 1350
90 1300
120 1200
